Higher-moment approaches to approximate interval estimation for a certain intraclass correlation coefficient.

چکیده
We consider the problem of constructing a confidence interval for the intraclass correlation coefficient in an interrater reliability study when the raters are assumed to be randomly selected from a population of raters. A Monte Carlo simulation study is conducted to investigate the true coverage probabilities of the commonly used intervals proposed by Fleiss and Shrout, which rely on Satterthwaite's two-moment approximation. These intervals are shown to be substantially anticonservative in certain cases. We propose intervals based on higher-moment approximations obtained using the Pearson system of distributions. The modified intervals are more conservative and generally more satisfactory than those obtained by the two-moment approximation. The competing methods are illustrated using data from a study of the natural history of facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy.

UNLABELLED AIM To evaluate the reproducibility of three-dimensional power Doppler ultrasonography (3D-PDU) and the repeatability of Virtual Organ Computer-aided AnaLysis (VOCAL) software in the assessment of hepatic venous flow in ten healthy non-pregnant individuals. METHODS Visualization of hepatic veins was performed using both intra- and subhepatic approaches; These examinations were ...
متن کاملData Driven Approaches to Testing Homogeneity of Intraclass Correlation Coefficients
The test of homogeneity for intraclass correlation coefficients has been one of the active topics in statistical research. Several chi-square tests have been proposed to test the homogeneity of intraclass correlations in the past few decades. The big concern for them is that these methods are seriously biased when sample sizes are not large. In this thesis, data driven approaches are proposed t...
متن کاملAsymptotic Distribution Free Interval Estimation for an Intraclass Correlation Coefficient with Applications to Longitudinal Data
Confidence intervals for the intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) have been proposed under the assumption of multivariate normality. We propose confidence intervals which do not require distributional assumptions. We performed a simulation study to assess the coverage rates of normal theory (NT) and asymptotically distribution free (ADF) intervals. We found that the ADF intervals performed ...
متن کاملConfidence intervals for intraclass correlation coefficients in a nonlinear dose-response meta-analysis.
This work is motivated by a meta-analysis case study on antipsychotic medications. The Michaelis-Menten curve is employed to model the nonlinear relationship between the dose and D2 receptor occupancy across multiple studies. An intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) is used to quantify the heterogeneity across studies. To interpret the size of heterogeneity, an accurate estimate of ICC and i...
متن کاملOsteoarthritis Classification Scales: Interobserver Reliability and Arthroscopic Correlation.
BACKGROUND Osteoarthritis of the knee is commonly diagnosed and monitored with radiography. However, the reliability of radiographic classification systems for osteoarthritis and the correlation of these classifications with the actual degree of confirmed degeneration of the articular cartilage of the tibiofemoral joint have not been adequately studied. METHODS As the Multicenter ACL (anterio...
